COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The statewide battles over abortion rights since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a constitutional right to abortion have exposed another fault line: the commitment to democracy. "We spoke.”Gross told Jackson she wasn't ignoring voters but rather was reflecting opponents' concerns that Ohio voters were led astray. Anti-abortion lawmakers and advocates already have pushed back in a handful of states where voters sided generally with abortion rights. Republican state legislative leaders initially pledged that the fight to restrict abortion rights wasn't over after voters had spoken. Florida’s Republican attorney general is attempting to keep a proposed abortion rights amendment off the 2024 ballot.

The revamped Congressional District 2, which was designed to boost the voting power of Black residents, has a voting-age population that is 48.7% Black, giving the district a decidedly Democratic tilt. State Republicans, however, say they are not ceding the seat without a fight. A federal judge ordered Georgia to draw an additional Black-majority congressional district, although the state plans to appeal. The Alabama district is an open seat in the 2024 election after the current representative, Republican Rep. Barry Moore, was drawn out of the district. Moore has decided to challenge Republican Rep. Jerry Carl in Congressional District 1.

REUTERS/Dado RuvicLONDON, Dec 7 (Reuters) - Lessons will be applied swiftly from the collapse of crypto exchange FTX that left 80,000 UK investors nursing losses even though the platform was not registered in Britain, the UK Financial Conduct Authority said on Wednesday. Long said regulators' response to the FTX debacle would be "pacy". Currently crypto dealings are unregulated in Britain, with firms only needing to show they can comply with anti-money laundering rules. "In terms of dark money, there is money laundering that is running through crypto," Long said.
After 70 years in the West End, The Mousetrap will finally open in New York next year. The Mousetrap's Broadway transfer was announced on Friday to mark the play's 70th anniversary. When it first opened in London, Christie and the original producer agreed that the show would not transfer to Broadway. Spiegel said: "After the longest out-of-town try-out in history, The Mousetrap is finally ready to transfer to Broadway." In her autobiography, Christie recounts a conversation she had with Peter Saunders, the play's original producer, on its opening night in the West End.
